A governance health check is separate from the statutory internal-audit engagement and can be useful after clerk changes, rapid growth, recurring findings or a period of governance difficulty.
We start with a short call to agree which areas you want reviewed and what we need to see. We then review your documents, policies and minutes, and give you a written report with a prioritised, practical action plan, for a fee agreed in advance.
A governance health check is a review of arrangements, not day-to-day management of the council. We offer it only to councils we don’t audit, so our independence as your internal auditor is never in question. If you’d like us as your internal auditor, the health check isn’t available to you, and we’ll say so before any work starts.
