Local Council Audit is a specialist practice focused on independent internal audit and governance for town and parish councils.
Jason is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He previously worked as an auditor of businesses and not-for-profit organisations, testing financial controls, governance and reporting against professional standards.
He went on to lead finance and operations as Group CFO and COO in private equity-backed businesses across London, New York and Luxembourg, designing and building finance processes, systems and control frameworks, and leading governance and board reporting.
That combination, an auditor’s discipline with first-hand experience of building and running the systems being audited, is what he brings to Local Council Audit: proportionate testing focused on the risks that matter, clear findings, and practical recommendations councils can act on.
He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Cambridge and the ICAEW Corporate Finance qualification.
Jason holds PIALC (Principles of Internal Auditing Local Councils), the SLCC’s sector-specific internal audit qualification for local councils.
Local councils deserve an audit service that understands their governance environment, communicates clearly and scales its work proportionately.
Our ambition is to become the most trusted specialist internal-audit and governance provider for local councils by being useful, responsive and rigorous.
Local Council Audit is a trading name of Acme Advisory Ltd, a firm of Chartered Accountants regulated by ICAEW. Our work is led by Jason Kirkbride FCA, an ICAEW practising certificate holder.
We are independent of the councils we audit: our auditors are independent of your council’s finances and day-to-day management, as the Practitioners’ Guide requires.
